| Installation | Bolts to the transom using the standard BIA bolt pattern, and the outboard then mounts to the plate. The outboard must be safely lifted and supported during installation and all hardware torqued to spec, so we recommend installation by a qualified marine technician. An optional clamp-on style kit (P/N 100-105001) is available for clamp-on motors. |

Should I choose the 4" or 6" setback?
Both have the same lift and horsepower rating. The 4" keeps the engine closer to the transom for a more compact install, while the 6" moves it further back into cleaner water, which can help top speed and holeshot on some hulls. If you're unsure, check your boat manufacturer's recommendation or contact us with your boat and engine details.
How does the Kick-Back feature work?
If your lower unit hits a submerged object while moving forward, the plate pivots up (up to 30°) so the motor can ride over it, then settles back into place. There are no chains or springs. Bob's Machine Shop rates it for impacts at 5 MPH or less, in forward only.
Will it kick up in reverse or on the trailer?
No. Built-in locking pins hold the plate in place when backing up and trailering. The Kick-Back is not designed to take impacts while running in reverse.
How much lift does it give?
6" of hydraulic stroke plus 1.5" of lift built into the structure, for 7.5" of total lift.
What's the difference between the Silver and Black Powder Coat finishes?
Nothing but the look. Both use the same plate and specs; the gloss black powder coat matches black outboards and rigging.
What maintenance does it need?
Very little. Delrin rollers, bushings and bearings keep it moving smoothly, and the pivot points take grease through standard zerk fittings. Rinse with fresh water after saltwater use.
What is the warranty?
Bob's Machine Shop covers the structure with a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, and the Action pump with a 3-year warranty.
